As tourism businesses and organizations become increasingly international, meetings and conventions become even more important. Despite the proliferation of alternative forms of communication in the tourism industry, such as e-mail, videoconferencing, and the Web, "faces & places" interaction is still a necessity. In fact, new forms of communication foster interaction and connect individuals and groups that previously would not have collaborated.

By increasing the number of human connections, electronic forms of communication actually increase the demand for meetings, which may offer the only opportunity for these people to interact in person to build friendship, alliances and partnerships for the betterment of people involved in tourism.

For tourism dependent countries, periodic meetings and conferences are increasingly the only way to play hosts to international tourism fraternity - to showcase their country, to develop knowledge intensive professionals, to promote cooperation and collaboration as well as build international linkages with tourist generating countries. Countries hold tourism conferences and conventions that offer the continuing education, training, and opportunities to exchange ideas that are vital to developing a vibrant tourism industry.

We produced the 1st World Ecotourism Conference supported by UNWTO, TIES and PATA (www.worldecotourismconference.com) in July 2009. We were also very honoured to be chosen to stage the UNWTO World Tourism Conference in 2007 in collaboration with the Malaysian Ministry of Tourism and UNWTO (www.worldtourismconference.com). We are also very proud to be associated with the MATTA E-Business Conferences, the Asia Pacific Ecotourism Conferences (www.apeco2006.com) and (www.apeco2007.com) as well as International Conference on Muslim Tourism, Hajj and Umrah (www.incomthu.com) .

Global conferences in the pipeline are the World Ecotourism Conference 2010, Asia Pacific Ecotourism Conference as well as a series of  Mekong tourism conferences.
